Ram 1500 Wheels

Before you pick a wheel for a Ram, count the lug nuts. Older trucks run five lugs, newer ones run six, and the two patterns do not swap. Once you know your pattern, the designs below cover everything from 17-inch trail wheels to 24-inch show wheels.

Ram 1500 Rims: Is Your Truck 5-Lug or 6-Lug?

Sort this out first. Ram has used two bolt patterns on the half-ton, and a wheel drilled for one will not bolt to the other. The center bore is 77.8 mm across every group below, so once the lug count matches, hub fit works the same way.

How to tell which one you have

Count the lug nuts on one wheel. Five means 5x139.7. Six means 6x139.7. It takes ten seconds and beats guessing from the model year. Some trims in each year group are listed with the other pattern, so count even if your year seems obvious.

2019 owners and the Ram 1500 Classic

The 2019 model year was sold as both the older Classic body and the new body. The Classic also kept selling after 2019, so a 2020-or-newer Classic can still be a 5-lug truck. Count first, then go to the right page: the new-body 2019 wheel page or the 2019 Classic wheel page. For the 5-lug truck and the Classic, our 4th-gen (5-lug) Ram 1500 and Classic wheel and tire guide goes deeper on sizes.

Ram 1500 20 Inch Wheels vs 22 Inch Wheels

20s are the sweet spot. You keep enough sidewall for a decent ride, and the tire selection is huge. 22s fill the wheel well and look sharper on a street truck. The cost is a thinner tire, a firmer ride, and less protection from potholes. If you go off-road at all, 17s and 18s with a tall sidewall make more sense. 24s are for show trucks.

A good 6-lug 20 to start with is the Moto Metal COMBAT 20x10 -18 in chrome. On the 5-lug side, the XF Off-Road XF-211 20x9 +0 is drilled 5x139.7 and 5x150, and the 5x139.7 side fits the older truck. Big 22s and 24s are mostly 6-lug, so 5-lug owners should browse every 5x139.7 wheel we stock, and 6-lug owners can see all 6x139.7 wheels.

Ram 1500 Black Wheels and Chrome Wheels

Black is the most common truck finish we carry, in three flavors. Gloss black, like the Asanti Black 51 or the Ultra Warmonger 20x9 +18, looks wet and dressy but shows swirl marks. Matte black, like the Hard Alloys 200, the XD 811 (6x135/6x139.7, so 6-lug on a Ram) or the 5-lug Vortek VRD-705, hides brake dust but holds onto grease. Satin black, like the FT1, sits in between. Browse more black wheel options.

Chrome is rarer. The Moto Metal COMBAT (20x10, 22x10) and the DUB 1PC BLAZE (24x10) are both 6-lug. Chrome looks unbeatable when clean, but road salt is hard on it, so wash it through the winter. 5-lug owners chasing shine should look at the polished Ion Type 171 or check the chrome wheel lineup filtered to 5x139.7. Want something other than black or bright? Bronze (Mamba, Dirty Life) and gold (RAID) look great on white and grey trucks.

Offset: Stock, Leveled or Lifted

Factory wheels run +19 to +25 offset. Here is how to think about it by ride height:

  • Stock height: stay near the factory range. The XD 811 20x9 +30 and Ultra 20x9 +18 sit close to it and keep the wheel tucked.
  • Leveled: many owners move toward zero for a flusher look. The KMC CRUX 18x9 +0 (6-lug) and the XF-211 20x9 +0 (5-lug) are examples.
  • Lifted: negative offset pushes the wheel out. Examples include the Fuel WEAPON 20x10 -18 (6-lug) and the Gear Off Road 771B 20x10 -25 (5-lug). The wide 12- and 14-inch wheels go as deep as -44 to -76.

Lower offset plus a wider tire means more rub risk, especially at full lock. How much depends on your lift and tire size, so check your exact truck in the fitment search before ordering. If bigger tires are the goal, read whether 35s fit a Ram 1500 and our roundup of the best lift kits for the Ram 1500.

What It Looks Like on the Truck

One customer runs Method wheels on a 2020 truck at 18x9 -12 up front, with 295-wide tires, for a poke stance. The rear is listed at 18x7.5 +19. That front setup is the classic leveled look: the wheel sits proud of the fender without going to extreme widths. A +12 to +30 wheel stays flush to tucked. Anything past -40 on a 12- or 14-inch-wide wheel is a full show-truck stance.

Ram 1500 Fuel Wheels

Fuel 1PC is the deepest brand in our truck catalog. The WEAPON is the 6-lug standout. The WEAPON 20x10 -18 in Platinum gives a lifted or leveled truck a mild poke. See every Fuel wheel in 6-lug, or the Fuel lineup for 5-lug trucks.

Ram 1500 Rims and Tires

If you would rather not match tires yourself, our truck wheel and tire packages pair wheels and tires in sizes that work together. Know your lug count before you start.

Ram Rebel Rims

The Rebel is a trim, so the same rule applies: count the lugs. Rebel owners usually want trail looks, so the 17s and 18s are the place to start, along with our off-road wheel picks.

Dodge Ram Rims for 1994-2010 Trucks

These older trucks use 5x139.7 with the same 77.8 mm bore. Every 5-lug design here fits the pattern, including the Ion Type 171 and the Mamba 591BZ M19. Dual-drilled 5x139.7/5x150 wheels, like the Vortek VRD-705, also work. Factory sizes ranged from 15 to 22 inches, so check offset against your exact truck.

Questions

What bolt pattern is a Ram 1500?

It depends on the truck: older 5-lug trucks use 5x139.7, and the newer body sold from 2020 uses 6x139.7. Counting the lug nuts tells you instantly.

Will 6-lug wheels fit my 2019 Ram?

Only if your 2019 is the new-body truck. That year was sold as both the older Classic and the new body, so count the lugs before ordering.

Is a 2020 or newer Ram 1500 Classic 6-lug?

Not necessarily, because the Classic is the older body and is grouped with the 5-lug trucks. Count the lugs or use the fitment search before you buy.

Can 5-lug and 6-lug Ram wheels be swapped?

No. The lug counts are different, so the wheel will not bolt on even though both share the 77.8 mm center bore.

What wheel sizes came on the 6-lug truck from the factory?

Factory sizes were 7x17 +19, 7x17 +25, 7.5x18 +19 and 9x18 +19. Use those offsets as your baseline for a stock-height setup.

Can I run 22s on a stock-height Ram 1500?

Yes, 22s are a popular street size, and the Asanti Black 51 and Moto Metal COMBAT both come in 22x10 for the 6-lug truck. Tire size and offset decide clearance, so check your exact truck in the fitment search.
