Skyjacker 8" 69-72 GM SOFTRIDE SYSTEM - C280AKS-N FAQ
It is listed for: 1969-1972 Chevrolet Blazer; 1969-1972 Chevrolet K10; 1969-1972 GMC Jimmy and more (see the full list above). Pick your vehicle on this page to check your exact year and trim.
The maker's installation guide is on this page — see Installation guide under the part details for the step-by-step and the torque figures. Work on level ground with the car properly supported, and torque every fastener to the maker's figure. If the job is beyond your tools, any shop that does this kind of work can fit it.
Yes. Any change in ride height changes the alignment; set it once the kit is on and the truck has been driven a short distance.
The maker states the largest tire the kit is designed to clear; going larger can need trimming or more lift. Wider wheels with less backspacing also change what clears.
Taller lifts change the angles of the driveshaft and CV joints, and kits made for that height include the parts to correct them when needed. A leveling kit that raises the front a small amount usually does not.
A leveling kit raises the front to match the rear and keeps the stock springs and shocks, so the ride stays close to stock. Larger lifts with new springs change the ride more.
Some kits reuse the stock shocks and some include or call for longer ones; the Part details and the maker's guide on this page say which.
Trucks with headlight leveling, adaptive cruise or a forward camera may need those systems re-aimed after the height changes.

Install and care: lift kits
Before you start
- Read the maker's guide for the tire size it clears and whether longer shocks or driveline parts are called for.
- Book an alignment and, on trucks with cameras or adaptive cruise, a re-aim of those systems.
Do
- Torque every bolt to the maker's figure and re-check after the first drive.
- Align the truck once the height has settled.
Don't
- Don't run a larger tire than the kit is made for without checking the clearance.
- Don't skip the driveline parts the maker says a taller lift needs.
