Throttle Assemblies
Throttle Assemblies: the part that turns your right hand into engine input
Throttle assemblies are the mechanical link between your grip and the carburetor or throttle body. On a motorcycle, the throttle tube rides on the handlebar and takes the cable pull as you roll on; the assembly houses that tube, the cable routing and, on some units, the grips themselves. When the plastic goes brittle, the return gets sticky, or the cable geometry is worn, you replace it. A clean throttle tube gives a smooth, predictable pull with no notchy spots and a proper snap back to idle.
What ThreePiece stocks
This is a focused category: 3 products in stock from 2 brands, ProTaper and Bikers Choice. Current pricing runs from $58 to $85 for what is on the shelf right now - that is the live in-stock range, not a standing offer. ProTaper covers the dirt side with aluminum throttle tubes named for KTM and Husqvarna applications, including the ProTaper KTM/Husqvarna Aluminum Throttle Tube 025075 and its sibling 025076, both at the top of the range. Bikers Choice handles the cruiser side with the 1981 Big Twin & XL chrome throttle assembly with grips, which replaces H-D part 5622 and comes in at the low end.
How to choose
The split here is simple and follows the two use cases. The ProTaper aluminum tubes are bare throttle tubes for off-road bikes - you reuse or supply your own grips, and you get an aluminum tube rather than plastic. Pick these if the application matches your KTM or Husqvarna and you already have grips sorted. The Bikers Choice unit is a complete chrome assembly that arrives with grips, so it is the one-box fix for the 1981 Harley-Davidson Big Twin and XL it's listed for. Choose it when you want the throttle and grips replaced together on that platform.
Fitment
Fitment data here is thin: one of the three products carries confirmed vehicle data, listing Harley-Davidson as the make and the Big Twin and XL for 1981. The ProTaper tubes name KTM in their product titles. Confirm your exact year, model and cable setup before you order - a throttle tube has to match the bar diameter and cable pull it was built for.
What else you need
A throttle tube and grips work as a set, so pair a bare ProTaper tube with a set from Grips (150 in stock). While you have the bars apart, it's worth looking at Handlebars and Quick Release Levers. For the wider cockpit, browse Floorboards, Seat Brackets and Electrical Accessories. All of these sit under the Interior section.
