Heat Shields
Heat Shields: keep exhaust heat off the parts that hate it
A heat shield's job is simple and worth doing right: contain the heat coming off your exhaust so it doesn't cook nearby wiring, brake lines, fuel lines, plastics or the cabin floor. On a turbo car, a downpipe or housing blanket also holds heat inside the pipe where it belongs, which keeps underhood temps down. Whether it's a wrap sleeve over a harness, a formed pipe shield, or a stitched turbine blanket, these heat shields all do the same thing - move the heat where you want it and protect what's next to it.
What ThreePiece stocks
This category runs 46 heat shields from 9 brands, priced from $34 to $582 for what's currently in stock - not a promise, just today's range. The bulk of the range is DEI (30 of the products in sample), with Vibrant next at 7, plus Wehrli, Torque Solution, Mishimoto, CORSA Performance, Kuryakyn, Bikers Choice and Giant Loop. Coverage where fitment is listed includes Chevrolet, Harley Davidson and Honda vehicles - think Chevrolet Corvette and Duramax, Harley-Davidson Touring, and the Honda Civic Type-R - across model years from 1993 to 2024. Note only a handful of these products carry vehicle-specific fitment; most are universal.
How to choose
Two broad routes here. If you want a bolt-specific fix, go vehicle-matched: the Torque Solution FK8 Type-R downpipe blanket at $158.69 or the Wehrli Duramax VGT housing blanket at $173.92 are made for their listed vehicles. If you need a turbo blanket without a car match, the Wehrli universal T4 housing blanket ($154.52) sizes to the turbine flange, not the car.
For general protection you cut to fit, look at spooled sleeving like the DEI Heat Sheath 1-1/2in x 50ft ($386.78) or the aluminized DEI Heat Shroud 2-1/2in x 50ft ($581.65) - the priciest items here, but a full spool covers a lot of harness. For a targeted section of pipe, the formed Vibrant SHEETHOT 90-degree pipe shield ($138.71) sits close without wrapping the whole run. Match by pipe or bore diameter and by length; that's what makes or breaks the fit.
What else you need
Heat shields pair naturally with the parts that make the heat. If you're wrapping a downpipe or blanketing a turbo, you're often mid-way through work on Headers or Exhaust Pipes.
