Header Gaskets
Header Gaskets: the seal that keeps your header working
A header gasket sits between the cylinder head exhaust ports and the header flange, sealing hot combustion gases so they leave through the primaries instead of blowing out at the joint. When you bolt on a set of headers, the old factory gasket rarely matches the new flange, and a re-used gasket tends to leak once the bolts are torqued and heat-cycled. Fresh header gaskets give you a clean crush, even clamping, and no tick from a leaking port. If you're pulling a header off for any reason, plan on new gaskets going back on.
What ThreePiece stocks
We currently show 6 header gasket sets from 2 brands: BBK and JBA. Prices run from $61 to $69, which is the current range for what's in stock rather than a fixed promise. BBK makes up most of the selection, with JBA covering Gen III Hemi applications.
- BBK Dodge Hemi 5.7 6.1 Exhaust Header Gasket Set - 1405 at $68.71, for Hemi builds.
- BBK 11-20 Ford Mustang 5.0 Coyote Header Gasket Set (Pair) - 1410, also $68.71, covering 2011-2020 Coyote Mustangs.
- JBA Chrysler 5.7-6.4L Gen III Hemi D-Port Header Gasket - Pair - 063-1965 at $61.20, the value end of the range.
Product names in this category reference Dodge, Ford, Ram and Chrysler applications. Detailed fitment data is listed for one product covering the Ford Mustang, 2011 to 2020, so check each listing for the engine and port shape it's cut for.
How to choose
The main decision here is matching the gasket to your header's port shape and your engine. A D-port Gen III Hemi gasket like the JBA set won't seat right against a differently ported flange, so start from the exact engine and header you're running. Beyond that, buying the gasket from the same brand as your header is the safest route to a matched pattern. With only a few dollars separating the JBA and BBK sets, price isn't the deciding factor in this category, fit is.
What else you need
Gaskets are a piece of the exhaust job, not the whole thing. If you're upgrading beyond the headers, look at exhaust pipes, exhaust flanges to mate everything up, and a cat-back exhaust or axle-back system to finish the run. Catalytic converters and mufflers round out the section. Browse everything in the Exhaust department if you're building a full system.
