Air Struts

Air Struts: adjustable ride height without giving up the drive

An air strut swaps the fixed spring of a conventional damper for an air spring, so you control ride height by adding or bleeding air pressure. Fit air struts when you want to drop the car for looks or clearance, then lift it back up for driveways, ramps and loading. On a full air setup, the strut is the working corner: it carries the load, damps the wheel, and rises or squats on command. On an OE-replacement air strut, it does the same job the factory air suspension already did, so a self-leveling car keeps its ride height when the original unit leaks down.

What we stock

There are 262 products in this category, and 255 carry fitment data. Prices currently run from $85 to $3,600 for what is in stock now, not a locked-in quote. Four brands are represented: D2 Racing (171 listings), Truhart (60), Bilstein (30) and Rancho (1). Two of these have their own filtered pages if you already know your brand: D2 Racing and Truhart.

Coverage leans toward Honda, BMW, Lexus, Ford, Infiniti, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Acura, Dodge, Audi and Saab, with common fitments including the Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Honda CR-V, Toyota Camry, Audi A4, BMW Z4, Mazda 3 and Ford Edge. Product names also cover Porsche, Volkswagen, Scion, Genesis, GMC and Ram applications.

How to choose

The main split is full air suspension versus OE-replacement. Full kits like the Truhart Air Plus for the 02-06 RSX / Civic or the Truhart Air Plus for 2017+ Civic Si / Accord are built for adjustable ride height on a modified car; note that second listing ships with no bypass module for ADS, so check your factory damper setup before ordering.

The D2 Racing air struts for the 05-11 911 and the D2 Racing set for the 986 Boxster sit at the top of the range at $3,600, aimed at sports-car applications. If your goal is simply to replace a tired factory air unit, the OE-replacement route is different work: the Bilstein rear-left Cayenne strut and its rear-right partner are corner-specific, so match the side you need and consider doing both together.

What else you need with it

Air struts share the corner with the rest of the suspension. If you decide a static drop suits you better, compare Coilovers or Lowering Springs. For OE-style repairs, look at Shock Absorbers and Strut Assemblies. Refreshing worn Bushings at the same time keeps a lowered car quiet and settled. Browse everything in the Suspension section.
