Polyurethane keeps the suspension geometry tighter and lasts longer, but can add a little noise and firmness; rubber is quieter and softer.
Most bushings need a press or a bushing tool to get the old ones out; the new ones usually push in by hand or with a small press.
Polyurethane bushings must be greased on install with the grease supplied, or they squeak. Rubber bushings go in dry.
Yes, when the bushings locate a control arm or subframe. Check it after the install.
Not when they are greased properly and the sleeves are the right size. A squeak later on means they need grease.

Install and care: bushings
Before you start
- Arrange a press or bushing tool for the old bushings.
- Keep the grease the maker supplies for polyurethane bushings.
Do
- Grease polyurethane bushings on every surface that touches metal.
- Torque the bolts with the car at ride height.
Don't
- Don't hammer a bushing in; press it.
- Don't skip the grease on polyurethane bushings.
