Oil Separators
Oil Separators: Keep Oil Mist Out of Your Intake Tract
An oil separator sits in the crankcase ventilation line and pulls oil vapor out of the blow-by gases before they get routed back into the intake. On a modern direct-injection or boosted engine, that oil mist coats the intake valves, fouls the charge air, and lowers the effective octane in the combustion chamber. Fitting one of these oil separators catches that oil in a small reservoir you drain instead, keeping the intake side cleaner over the life of the motor. It's a straightforward inline install for anyone comfortable working under the hood.
What We Stock
There are 158 oil separators on this page, priced from $63 to $709 at the moment - that's the current in-stock range, not a fixed price. Six brands are represented. J&L is by far the deepest, with 133 units in the range, followed by Perrin Performance, Ford Racing, Radium Engineering, COBB and BBK. Coverage runs across model years 1997 to 2026, with 137 of these units carrying fitment data.
Top vehicles include the Ford Mustang, Subaru WRX, Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Charger, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra, plus makes like GMC, Nissan, Jeep, Kia and Hyundai. Concrete examples: the Ford Racing 2024 Mustang GT / Dark Horse dual-side separator at the top of the range, the COBB 15-20 WRX air oil separator and the earlier COBB 08-14 WRX / 08-20 STI unit, and the Radium Engineering 2015+ WRX kit.
How to Choose
Start with fitment - most of these are vehicle-specific bracketry, so the separator has to match your make, model and year. Once you're in the right group, the trade-offs are real. A complete kit like the Radium bundles the catch can and mounting so you're not sourcing brackets separately. Brand-matched units such as the COBB and PERRIN separators are built around a specific platform, which makes for a cleaner bolt-in. Finish can matter if it's visible - the PERRIN WRX/STI separator comes in Black and Red at the same price. The wide J&L range covers the budget end and most trucks.
What Else You Need
Plan to run fresh oil after the install, so grab Oil Filters at the same time. If you're plumbing custom lines, the Fittings and Adapters categories carry the AN and thread pieces you'll need. Browse the full Engine Components section for related work like Gasket Kits and Radiators.
