Gauge Adapters
Gauge Adapters: the fitting that lets your gauge see what it needs to see
Gauge adapters are the small threaded pieces that put a temperature or pressure sender where it can actually read the fluid you care about. When your gauge sender thread doesn't match the port on the engine, radiator hose, or oil line, an adapter bridges the two so you get an accurate reading without cutting or drilling anything you'll regret. Some are simple thread converters; others are inline bodies that sit in a hose or an AN line and give you a bung to spin a sender into. If you've ever tried to run an aftermarket gauge on a metric block, you already know why these exist.
They belong in the Engine Components section, and they're a companion to the wider Adapters and Fittings ranges.
What ThreePiece stocks
This category currently shows 7 products from 2 brands: Fragola (5 of them) and AutoMeter (2). Prices run from $27 to $94, which is the current range on what's in stock right now rather than a fixed quote.
The mix covers a few distinct jobs. On the AN side, the Fragola -8AN inline gauge adapter and the Fragola -10AN inline gauge adapter drop straight into an existing AN line so you can tap a reading mid-run. For sensor-thread conversion, the AutoMeter 1/8in NPT to M12x1.75 adapter handles the common metric-to-NPT mismatch, and the AutoMeter 1.5in aluminum radiator hose adapter gives you a coolant temperature tap in a 1.5in hose.
How to choose
Start with where you're taking the reading. If you're plumbing into a fuel, oil, or coolant line already built in AN, the inline Fragola pieces match your line size directly – pick the -8AN or -10AN to suit the hose you're running, and you keep the AN sealing surface instead of introducing a pipe thread.
If the problem is a sender that won't thread into a factory port, you want a conversion adapter like the AutoMeter metric-to-NPT unit. And if there's no port at all near the coolant you want to monitor, the radiator hose adapter is the cleanest way to add one – it's the priciest piece here at the top of the range, but it saves you modifying a housing. Match the adapter's thread and size to your gauge sender first; the reading is only as good as the fit.
What else you'll need
An adapter is rarely the whole job. Plan on the sender and any sealant your gauge maker specifies, plus the right Fittings to complete an AN run. If the reading you want is coolant temperature, look at how it ties into your Radiators setup, and if you're already in the block for oil pressure, the Oil Filters and Fuel Pumps pages cover related plumbing points.
