The UMI Performance spring and shock kit is designed to lower your car 1 inch while providing a huge improvement in handling and control. These kits feature our race quality lowering springs which provide a high performance foundation for your ride. Premium US sourced CrSi wire is wound into the correct rates for street cruising, Pro-Touring, corner carving or light drag use. The UMI Performance monotube shock features medium-firm compression valving and a ramped up rebound curve to properly control the UMI spring. The rebound valving also controls body roll when cornering and contributes to a high performance ride.

Lowering springs work with the stock shocks when the drop is mild, but a shorter spring makes the shock work harder, so many drivers pair them with shocks made for lowered cars. Shocks that are already worn should be replaced at the same time.
Yes. Lowering changes camber and toe, so align the car after the springs have settled.
The drop is set by the spring and is listed by the maker for each car; see the Part details above when it is stated. The car settles a little further over the first drives.
Lowering springs are firmer than stock but keep most of the comfort. How much firmer depends on the spring rate and the shocks they are paired with.
It needs a spring compressor and jack stands; without both, a shop can fit them. Torque the suspension bolts with the car sitting at ride height, not hanging in the air.

Install and care: lowering springs
Before you start
- Have a spring compressor, jack stands and a torque wrench on hand.
- Check the shocks while the struts are apart; worn ones go in now, not later.
Do
- Torque the suspension bolts with the car at ride height.
- Re-check the ride height and the alignment once the springs have settled.
Don't
- Don't cut or heat a spring to lower it further.
- Don't tighten the bushing bolts with the suspension hanging.
