Valves
Valves: the head parts that decide how your engine breathes
Engine valves are the poppets in the cylinder head that open and close to let the air-fuel charge in and the spent gases out. Intake valves seal against the combustion chamber on the compression and power strokes; exhaust valves run hotter because they pass burnt gas on the way out. When you build a boosted or high-rpm motor, the stock valves become a weak link - they can float at high rpm, or the exhaust side can burn and lose seal under sustained heat. Upgrading them is standard practice during a head refresh, a big-turbo build, or any time you're already in the head for a valve job.
Some of what's here is designed to fight heat directly: the Supertech BMW parts are sodium-filled Inconel exhaust valves, built to move heat out of the valve head. The GSC Subaru pieces are chrome-polished intake and exhaust valves sold in bulk sets.
What ThreePiece stocks
There are 176 valve products in this category, from 12 brands. The biggest ranges come from Supertech (60 products), Ferrea (38) and GSC Power Division (33), followed by Manley Performance, Brian Crower, Skunk2 Racing, Ford Racing, plus Turbosmart, Vibrant, Wiseco, TiALSport and HKS. Current pricing runs from $24 to $1,032 for what's in stock - that spread is live, not a promise. The low end covers single valves and small parts; the high end is full engine sets, like the GSC Subaru EJ exhaust valve set of 50 and its matching 36mm intake set.
Coverage in the fitment data leans toward tuner and performance platforms - Subaru WRX and STI, Nissan 240SX and GT-R, Honda Civic, BMW M3, Ford Mustang, Mazda Miata, Toyota Supra and more, with year data spanning 1989 onward.
How to choose
Pick by application first, then by material and quantity. If your build sees hard, sustained heat on the exhaust side, sodium-filled Inconel valves like the Supertech BMW N54 set or the S63 V8 set of 16 are aimed at that job. For a rotary-friendly RB build, the Ferrea RB26 Comp Plus exhaust set is a standard-diameter option. Note whether a valve is standard-size or oversized, and whether it needs matching locks - some listings, like the N54 set, say so directly. The Ford Racing Predator roller finger follower kit shows this category also carries valvetrain hardware, not just the valves themselves.
What else you need
Valves rarely go in alone. Plan for head gaskets and a gasket kit to reseal the head, and check the pistons and bearings if the motor is coming apart anyway. Browse the full Engine Components section for the rest of the build.
