Rebuild Kits
Rebuild Kits: bundled parts to bring an engine or carb back to spec
Rebuild kits collect the wear parts you replace in one job into a single boxed set, so you are not chasing individual gaskets, seals and rings across separate part numbers. Depending on the kit, that means a top end refresh (pistons, gaskets and hardware for the cylinders and heads), a rebore set matched to a specific oversize bore, or a carburetor master kit with the gaskets, seals and small parts that go soft over time. You fit one when a motor is burning oil, losing compression, or a carb has started leaking or running badly, and you want the correct combination of parts in the right sizes instead of guessing piece by piece.
What ThreePiece stocks in rebuild kits
This category currently shows 14 products from 5 brands: Cometic Gasket, S&S Cycle, Fuelab, Mahle OE and All Balls Racing. Current in-stock prices run from $47 to $415 - that is the live range for what is on the shelf now, not a fixed price. The spread reflects the different jobs: carb master kits sit lower, full rebore assemblies for diesel blocks sit at the top. Coverage in the fitment data leans toward Harley-Davidson Twin Cam, Evo and 1200 motors, Dodge Cummins and Ram, and Suzuki JR50, across model years from 1978 to 2022. Eight of the products carry fitment data.
How to choose
Start with the job. For a Harley top end, Cometic offers kits like the 99-17 big bore Twin Cam top end rebuild around $166, giving you the head and base gaskets for a top end freshen. For carbureted Harleys, S&S Cycle master kits such as the Super E carburetor master kit and the master kit for the G carb, both near $126, handle the fuel side rather than the cylinders.
For Cummins diesel work, Mahle OE rebore kits are matched to a bore size and come as sets - the 98.5-02 5.9L 4.016in bore set at about $310, or the six-cylinder 1999-2002 24-valve HO set at $415. Read the quantity: a rebore set may cover one cylinder or all six, so confirm what the pack includes against your engine before ordering.
What else you need with it
A rebuild rarely stops at one kit. If a top end kit does not include everything, look at dedicated head gaskets and gasket kits, and match your pistons to the bore you are running. Replace bearings while the engine is open, and check oil filters and fuel pumps during reassembly. Browse the full Engine Components section for the rest.
