Heat Shields
Heat Shields: keep engine bay heat off the parts that hate it
A heat shield does one job: it puts a barrier between a hot source – a turbo housing, an exhaust manifold, a downpipe – and the parts around it that don't want that heat. Wrap and sleeving hold heat inside the pipe so exhaust gas stays energized; bolt-on turbo shields and shrouds reflect radiant heat away from intake plumbing, wiring, brake lines and plastics. If you've melted a coolant hose or cooked an intake charge sitting near a glowing turbo, heat shields are the fix. This is a small part with an outsized effect on underhood temps and component life.
What ThreePiece stocks
There are 53 heat shields in this category, from 6 brands: DEI makes up the bulk of the range at 41 products, alongside Mishimoto, GrimmSpeed, COBB, Cusco and Turbo XS. Prices currently run from $32 to $639 for what's in stock – that's the live range, not a promise. The high end is bulk material like the DEI Heat Shroud 50ft spool and the DEI Gen-3 Turbo Shield T4, while bolt-on vehicle shields sit in the low-to-mid range.
How to choose
The split here is universal material versus bolt-on shield. Spools, sleeving and shrouds like the DEI products cover any build – you cut them to length and wrap or route them yourself, which means more labor but total flexibility. Bolt-on turbo shields are model-specific and go on in minutes. For a Subaru turbo car you can pick by brand and coating: the Turbo XS WRX/STI EJ20/EJ25 shield, the GrimmSpeed V2 with black ceramic coating, the COBB 02-07 WRX / STi shield, or the COBB Legacy GT / WRX / Forester XT shield. Match the shield to your exact chassis and turbo before buying.
Fitment
14 of these products carry fitment data, spanning model years 1997 to 2023. Named makes include Subaru, Jeep, Volkswagen, Audi, Chevrolet, Mazda and Honda, with top vehicles such as the Subaru WRX, STI, Forester and Impreza, Jeep Wrangler, Chevrolet Corvette, Mazda Miata, VW GTI and Golf R, and Audi A3 and S3. Universal wrap and shroud stock fits far more than the listed vehicles – verify the ID size or coverage area against your own part.
What else you need
Heat shields live in the Engine Components section, so it's easy to grab related parts in one order. Pair turbo work with new Gasket Kits and Head Gaskets, sort out oil supply with Fittings and Oil Filters, and keep charge temps in check with a fresh Radiator.
