We developed these springs through multiple rounds of track and street testing to land on a ride height and spring rate combination that changes how the car drives, not just how it looks. Ride height drops 21 mm (0.83 in) up front and 24 mm (0.94 in) out back, while spring rate climbs 45% front and 61% rear. The car rolls less, rotates more willingly on corner entry and stays composed through fast transitions, with ride quality that remains comfortable every day.
Each spring is designed in house and made in the USA from high-tensile chrome silicon steel, finished in APR's signature red powder coat. They bolt in place of the factory springs, work with both DCC and non-DCC dampers and fit every 2022-2026 Golf R, including the 2025+ MK8.5. Add APR Lowering Bumpstops (SUS00025) for the complete package.
The Golf R has the power and the AWD grip. What it gives up from the factory is body control. APR Roll-Control Lowering Springs fix that without turning a refined daily driver into something you dread on a rough road.
APR Roll-Control Lowering Springs - VW MK8/MK8.5 Golf R (2022-2026)
- Increases spring rate 45% front (319 lbs/in) and 61% rear (448 lbs/in), the largest rear rate gain in the APR MQB spring lineup, to control body roll and help the AWD chassis rotate
- Dual-rate front (183 to 319 lbs/in) and rear (327 to 448 lbs/in) springs operate as single-rate linear springs under normal driving loads
- Lowers the Golf R 21 mm (0.83 in) front and 24 mm (0.94 in) rear for a tighter wheel gap and a more aggressive stance
- Track and street tested through multiple iterations to deliver real handling gains without a harsh, bouncy ride
- Correct ride height pairing keeps the dampers working in their range so the car does not crash or bottom out
- High-tensile chrome silicon steel resists sagging and fatigue for long-term ride height consistency
- Direct plug-and-play replacement for the factory springs, works with DCC and non-DCC OEM dampers
- Pair with APR Lowering Bumpstops (SUS00025) for maximum handling, performance and comfort
- Signature APR red powder coat protects against corrosion and road salt
- Fits 2022-2026 VW Golf R, including the 2025+ MK8.5 refresh
- Designed in house and made in the USA

The maker's installation guide is on this page — see Installation guide under the part details for the step-by-step and the torque figures. Work on level ground with the car properly supported, and torque every fastener to the maker's figure. If the job is beyond your tools, any shop that does this kind of work can fit it.
Lowering springs work with the stock shocks when the drop is mild, but a shorter spring makes the shock work harder, so many drivers pair them with shocks made for lowered cars. Shocks that are already worn should be replaced at the same time.
Yes. Lowering changes camber and toe, so align the car after the springs have settled.
The drop is set by the spring and is listed by the maker for each car; see the Part details above when it is stated. The car settles a little further over the first drives.
Lowering springs are firmer than stock but keep most of the comfort. How much firmer depends on the spring rate and the shocks they are paired with.
It needs a spring compressor and jack stands; without both, a shop can fit them. Torque the suspension bolts with the car sitting at ride height, not hanging in the air.

Install and care: lowering springs
Before you start
- Have a spring compressor, jack stands and a torque wrench on hand.
- Check the shocks while the struts are apart; worn ones go in now, not later.
Do
- Torque the suspension bolts with the car at ride height.
- Re-check the ride height and the alignment once the springs have settled.
Don't
- Don't cut or heat a spring to lower it further.
- Don't tighten the bushing bolts with the suspension hanging.
