Cat Back
Cat Back Exhaust: The Section That Sets Your Car's Voice and Flow
A cat back exhaust replaces everything downstream of the catalytic converter - the mid pipe, muffler, resonators and tips as one matched system. Because it lives behind the cat, it changes how the car breathes at the tailpipe and how it sounds, while leaving the emissions hardware ahead of it in place. Installers reach for one to open up flow over the restrictive factory piping, swap in a better-sounding muffler, and dress the back of the car with real tips. On most vehicles it bolts to the existing flange, so it's one of the more straightforward exhaust jobs.
What ThreePiece stocks
This category holds 215 cat back systems from 17 brands. The deepest ranges come from Borla (89 in stock), CORSA Performance (26) and Magnaflow (21), with Revel, Skunk2 Racing, HKS, Remark, Stainless Works, Invidia, Akrapovic and more filling out the list. The current price range for what's in stock runs from $80 to about $8,990 - not a promise, just where the shelf sits today.
Fitment data covers 182 of these systems across a 1968-2025 year span. Popular applications include the Honda Civic, Ford Mustang, RAM 1500, Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Gladiator, Chevrolet Corvette, Toyota GR86, Subaru WRX and Volkswagen GTI, alongside GMC, Cadillac, Acura, Lexus, Audi and Mazda applications in the product names.
How to choose
The spread is real, so pick by what you actually want. Budget stainless systems near the bottom of the range get you flow and a tone change without the tip hardware. Mid-range valved systems like the CORSA C8 Corvette 3in valved cat-back with polished quad tips or the Borla ATAK catback for the 6.2L Corvette give you an aggressive tone with a switchable or fixed character. At the top end, titanium builds like the Akrapovic Giulia Quadrifoglio Evolution Line - also offered with link pipes - are the light, high-dollar option. Want carbon tips? Look at the CORSA carbon fiber black PVD C8 system or the Borla GT500 ATAK with carbon tips. The main trade-off is loudness versus daily comfort - valved systems let you have both.
What else you need
If you only want to change the last section, an axle-back system is the shorter, cheaper alternative. To go further forward, pair with headers and check catalytic converters, or step up to a full system. For finishing touches and hardware, browse exhaust tips and exhaust flanges. All of these live under the main Exhaust section.
