Cold Air Intake Kits
Cold Air Intake Kits: More Airflow, Pulled From Cooler Air Outside the Engine Bay
A cold air intake kit replaces your factory airbox, intake tube and filter with a freer-flowing setup that pulls air from a cooler spot, usually lower or further from engine heat. The point is a smoother, less restrictive path to the throttle body or turbo inlet. Most cold air intake kits come as a complete kit: a filter, a molded tube, mounting hardware and often a heat shield to keep hot underhood air off the filter. On a turbo car the kit feeds the compressor inlet; on a naturally aspirated engine it feeds the throttle body directly.
What ThreePiece Stocks
This category shows 1,507 cold air intake kits. From a sample of 1,257, we counted 20 brands. The largest ranges come from aFe and K&N Engineering, followed by Volant, Spectre, Injen, COBB, CORSA Performance, Mishimoto, Vance and Hines, Wehrli, Roush and HKS. Current pricing for what's in stock runs from $39 to $3,966 — that low end is a basic filter-and-tube kit, and the high end is a full power package like the Cobb 15-17 Subaru WRX NexGen Stage 2 Flex Fuel package or its 18-21 WRX equivalent. Prices are the current range on in-stock items, not a standing promise.
Coverage is broad. Of the sampled kits, 1,092 carry fitment data across a year range of 1968 to 2026. The top makes are Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Dodge, Jeep, Nissan, Honda, BMW and Subaru, with best-covered vehicles including the Ford F-150, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Wrangler and Subaru WRX. This is a sampled list, so it shows the shape of the range rather than every fitment.
How to Choose
The honest split here is street kit versus full power package. A standalone intake — the bulk of what's stocked from aFe, K&N, Injen and Spectre — is a bolt-on that swaps your airbox and filter. A power package like the COBB WRX kits bundles the intake with tuning hardware, which is why it sits at the top of the price spread. Diesel truck owners have their own path: the Wehrli L5P Duramax high-flow intake bundle and its Illusion Cherry version are built for the 6.6L Duramax. Import owners should look at HKS full kits like the HKS GR Yaris kit and the HKS GZEA14H full kit. Decide on your budget, whether you want tuning included, and match the kit to your exact year and engine.
What Else You Need
If you only want the filter, browse Replacement Air Filters, Drop In Filters or Panel Filters. If you're chasing intake temps on a turbo or boosted build, pair your intake with an Intercooler or a matched Intercooler Kit. See the full Air Intakes section for related parts, or compare with a plain Cold Air Intake.
