Digital Dash Systems
Digital Dash Systems: One Screen That Replaces a Cluster of Gauges
A digital dash replaces or supplements your factory instrument cluster with a programmable color display. Instead of a handful of analog gauges, one screen shows speed, RPM, coolant temp, oil pressure, boost and more, driven by your ECU or sensors. On a build with a standalone engine management setup, a digital dash reads the CAN stream directly, so you get every channel the ECU logs without drilling in extra pods. That is why people fit one: cleaner layout, more data, and on the logging units, the ability to record a session and review it later. Digital dash systems earn their keep on track cars, swaps, and trucks where the stock cluster can't show the parameters you actually care about.
What ThreePiece Stocks
There are 13 digital dash systems in stock right now, spanning 7 brands: Haltech, AutoMeter, AEM, aFe, Banks Power, GReddy and Innovate Motorsports. Prices currently run from $114 to $2,218 - that is the live range for what's on the shelf, not a standing offer. Haltech is the deepest line here, followed by AutoMeter.
The high end is anchored by full standalone-style displays like the AEM CD-7LG carbon logging flush dash with internal GPS and the Haltech uC-10 10in dash kit with cables and accessories. A step down, the Haltech iC-7 7in color display kit covers most needs on a smaller screen. AutoMeter's InVision line goes the direct-fit route for classic GM iron, including a 73-87 Chevy/GMC full size truck InVision system and an 82-87 Monte Carlo/El Camino/Malibu InVision display. For diesel trucks, the aFe AGD 5.5in monitor for 08-18 diesel trucks is a compact monitoring option.
How To Choose
The real split here is universal programmable dash vs. direct-fit. A Haltech or AEM display is brand-agnostic on layout but expects you to wire it to a compatible ECU or sensor input, and to spend time configuring pages - that's the price of getting every channel. The AutoMeter InVision units are built to drop into a specific dash opening, so installation is simpler but coverage is tied to the vehicle. Screen size and logging are the other trade-offs: the 10in and logging units cost more and do more; a 5.5in monitor like the aFe covers fewer parameters at a lower price. Match the dash to how you actually drive the car - data logging for track, clean direct-fit for a street cruiser.
Fitment Coverage
Two of these products list specific vehicle fitment. Named coverage includes Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge, RAM, Ford and GM applications, with model years spanning 1973 to 2018 across full size trucks and diesel trucks. The rest are universal-style displays that depend on your wiring and ECU, so confirm compatibility before ordering.
What Else You Need
