Mid Pipes
Mid Pipes: The Section That Sets Your Car's Volume and Flow
A mid pipe is the length of exhaust tubing that ties the front of your system, at the headers or catalytic converters, to the cat-back section behind it. Its real job is to route spent gas rearward with as little restriction as possible, and on a lot of setups it's where resonators live. Swap in a performance mid pipe and you change flow and, just as importantly, tone: a resonated pipe keeps drone down, a non-resonated pipe opens the car up and gets loud. On many builds it's also the piece that clears a catless or high-flow front section, so people fit one to complete a full exhaust rather than run a factory mismatch.
What ThreePiece Stocks
There are 23 mid pipes in stock here, spread across 7 brands: AWE Tuning (the largest slice), Remark, BBK, ISR Performance, Revel, Borla and aFe. Prices currently run from $174 to $1,783 - that's the range on what's in stock right now, not a locked-in promise. The high end is anchored by pieces like the Borla RAM 1500 RHO S-Type mid-section and its ATAK counterpart, while the AWE Tuning F90 M5 non-resonated pipes and the AWE F3X 335i/435i mid pipe cover popular BMW platforms.
Coverage leans toward enthusiast cars. Of the parts with listed fitment, top vehicles include the Subaru WRX and STI, Infiniti Q50 and G37, BMW M3/M4/M5, Dodge Challenger and Charger, Ford Mustang, Nissan 240sx and Ram 1500, spanning years from 1989 to 2026. The Remark 370Z V2 mid pipe kit and the Remark WRX/STI resonated mid pipe are good examples of the Remark range.
How to Choose
The first decision is resonated vs. non-resonated. A resonated pipe, like the WRX/STI Remark above, trades a little sound for far less highway drone - the right call for a daily driver. A non-resonated pipe, like the AWE M5 set, is louder and more aggressive. The second decision is where the pipe starts: some are true mid-sections that pair with your existing front pipes, others are kits designed to work with a specific header or converter setup. Match the diameter and fitment to the rest of your system so you're not adapting flanges after the fact.
What Else You'll Need
A mid pipe rarely goes in alone. Most builds pair it with a cat-back system or axle-back system out back, and up front with headers or catalytic converters. You may also want exhaust flanges to join sections cleanly. Browse the full Exhaust section to see how the pieces line up.
